Am I the only one who sings love songs to myself?
Love – everyone wants to be loved by someone: our parents, sibilgins, friends, partners, pets, teachers, bosses, … We always need to seek love for ourselves from ourself. We are often hard with ourselves in work and in words. When we feel down, you should imagine what a good friend would say to encourage you. Songs are my favorite way to remind myself that despite my failures and problems, I still love me.
I have two favorite songs: “I won’t give up” of Jason Mraz and “Malibu” of Miley Cirus.
“I won’t give up” – is to reassure myself when I get lost and frustrated.
First of all, I acknowledge my hard work “You’ve come so far”, then I let myself get lost “And when you’re needing your space, To do some navigating, I’ll be here patiently waiting, To see what you find”. It’s important to escape reality from time to time.
“Malibu” – is about me discovering new things.
“I never came to the beach, …I always thought I would sink, so I never swam. I never went boatin’, don’t get how they are floatin'” . There are things I always wanted to try but never did because of the fear of people, of failure or looking stupid. When I actually get to do them, I am astonished at what I can achieve and the fact that it wasn’t that scary. Sometimes, it’s about a negative experience that brought me somewhere surprising.
